While we always advocate cooking from scratch whenever possible, sometimes that's just not possible. This can be due to time constraints, lack of equipment, or even lack of know-how.
In this falafel wrap recipe, you'll notice I used my homemade falafel patties. A simple enough recipe you can make even without a food processor.
That said a storebought falafel mix can easily be substituted if you're not quite ready to make your own falafel from scratch.

Homemade Falafel Wrap Recipe
Falafel wraps are great because they are a delicious plant based meal option that you can make ahead of time, and then quickly put together.
Even if you don't have wraps, (as this recipe calls for) you can substitute naan bread, or whole large iceberg lettuce leaves to wrap everything into one tasty bundle.
To make this falafel wrap you'll need:
- 12 homemade falafel patties or balls - pre-cooked and cooled
- 1 medium tomato - sliced
- ½ English cucumber -sliced
- ¼ red onion - julienne
- 4 large pieces of pita bread
- 1 cup Tzatziki sauce
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 pinch cracked black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley - chopped
The hardest part of this recipe is obviously making your own falafel from scratch, (which only takes about 20 minutes by the way......great for meal prep!). You can learn how to make homemade falafel with this link, or use your favourite falafel mix.
Instructions
1. Mix and cook the falafel patties as required. Set aside to cool in the refrigerator as you prep the remaining toppings.
2. Slice the tomato, cucumber, and red onion. Mix your own tzatziki sauce if you wish, or substitute greek yogurt mixed with garlic and lemon.
3. Top the pita bread with a healthy spoonful of the tzatziki sauce. Follow the sauce with the lettuce, tomato, and sliced cucumber. Add 3 Falafel patties, and then drizzle with a little tzatziki before garnishing with the julienne red onion, chopped parsley, salt and pepper.
4. Wrap the pita bread up, folding the sides in first before rolling the pita up. Cut the pita in half and enjoy!
