Emblem of the Democratic People's Republic of Angola[edit]

Article(s): en:Democratic People's Republic of Angola

Request

Hello, I'm looking to see if anyone could remake the emblem used by UNITA's rival government of the Democratic People's Republic of Angola; the emblem is the same as the middle of the one on UNITA's party emblem but with the text SOCIALISMO, NEGRITUDE, DEMOCRACIA NÃO-ALINHAMENTO.
References:

Colors should be all the same as the one on the current logo of UNITA and the rooster & sun should be the same as the colors on the flag.
Thanks a million in advance if anyone takes this request :) --NorthTension (talk) 16:28, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I made some progress in Inkscape (not the full emblem though)

Article(s): w:en:State Emblem of the Soviet Union, w:en:Coat of arms of Russia, w:ru:Великая Отечественная война, w:ru:Герб СССР, and other sister projects

Request
Coat of arms of the Soviet Union (1936–1946).svg is the only vector file of the 1936 coat of arms of the Soviet Union. However, it's a poorly vectorized version since it's a bitmap tracing of a raster image. It's also not the most accurate to the official design as approved on May 27, 1937 (shown below). Could somebody please revectorize that image to make it a proper vector image and also an accurate representation of the official design? For reference, this file here is an accurate vector representation of the 1956 coat of arms. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Colohisto (talk • contribs) 00:58, 7 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Coats of arms of Venlo in the Belgium period[edit]

Article(s): nl:Wapen van Venlo

Request
Best,
I see that during Belgian times a coat of arms was also granted to the city of Venlo, of which there is no known image on Commons. The coat of arms can be found here in a photo of the awarded weapons diploma. Would anyone like to draw this coats of arms on an .svg file?
Yours sincerely,

@Snow Lion Fenian: ✓ Done. Basically just a recolor of File:Flag of Washington.svg and remove the rest of the text. I think the erroneous silk has him smiling more, but I think that's more of a stylistic choice. QuickQuokka [talkcontribs] 20:59, 7 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@QuickQuokka: Thanks for taking this request! Just a few more things though... perhaps Washington's head could be made bigger, so that the top of it is closer to the rim of the circle, as it appears to be in the link? Also, even though I'm rather uncertain about it myself, I'm also inclined to think that the central circle from the flag in the link is meant to be light blue (albeit a much lighter shade than the modern seal). What do you think? Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 22:39, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Indonesian Air Force insignia and flag[edit]

Article(s): Indonesian Air Force

Request
The insignia (and the flag of which has the same insignia) is incorrect. The flames located on the bottom of the insignia should have 4 tongues on the left, and 5 on the right as can be seen here by the official post as it supposed to symbolize the flames of 1945. Instead, what we have here in Wikimedia is 4 and 4 or exact mirror of the other side. The flames are located beneath the shield with the map of Indonesia. There are other nitpicks such as the feathers on the neck being different but I think the most important one is the flames. If anyone can edit it, please do. It would be greatly appreciated. Article(s): en:After Midnight (TV series)

Request
I am not entirely sure if this logo can be recreated in SVG form due to the blurs and multi-colored gradients, but I guess it's worth asking. (Note: sorry for the bad quality of the logo. Taking it from the series itself is not plausible as it's shown over a wide shot(?), and other bigger versions do not show the outer colors well. Now that I think about it I'm also not sure if the outer colors are needed, so it can be omitted if so.) --Spinixster (talk) 10:16, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Graphist opinion(s)
I just tried to simulate the blur with filters.
I do not know the font. It has a two-story "a" but a one-story "g". The font "Trebuchet MS" shows the gist, but has the wrong "g" and "M".
I only uploaded to File:Test.svg. WMF's rasterizer has too many limitations, and I do not have tracing on this machine. See archived Test.svg.
Glrx (talk) 19:36, 30 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I think it may be Helvetica Bold or a similar font, with adjustments to the a so it resembles a @. Not sure about the smaller font at the bottom, though. I think remaking this logo in SVG would be hard, so if that's not possible, I wish for someone to override the original file with a better picture. Spinixster (talk) 02:25, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
(Edit conflict) Definitely not Helvetica; note the round dot on the i, showing a Geometric influence. Avenir is closer but not quite right either. The two-storey a is quite unusual in the at-sign and may have been substituted.—Odysseus1479 (talk) 03:24, 31 January 2024 (UTC) P.S. The ft ligature is another unusual feature suggesting hand-alteration.—03:29, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The "ſt" ligature was present in all the fonts I tried. Glrx (talk) 03:34, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Uh, the "ſt" ligature may have been obtained from another font.... Glrx (talk) 04:03, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The font is an issue. This link
only found a few fonts with a double-story atsign. Tahoma and Verdana have double-story "a" characters, but single-story atsigns.
A hack would use the Trebuchet MS atsign and Helvetica/Arial for the rest. But many users (and WMF) do not have Trebuchet MS.
A better method than trying to match the font would trace the characters and then employ the filters.

Emblem of the Republic of Afghanistan[edit]

Article(s): en:Republic of Afghanistan (1973–1978)

Request
Hello, I do not want to start trouble or anything but for a month now, I’ve been trying to get an emblem reverted due to its inaccuracy. However, user Fry1989 has come up with a good compromise of combining both elements from each digitalized emblem in order to resolve this dispute. I am still new to Wikipedia and don’t really know how to solve the issue. I uploaded a video where I used editing software to compare the old digitalisation of the emblem to the new digitalisation of the emblem, using book covers from published works by the Republic of Afghanistan (1973–1974). Because I am on mobile, and due to the editing app I use, if I was to combine both elements of the emblems, it could come out as low quality. What I want is for the text on the new digitalisation to be put onto the old digitalisation. That is all.
Here is the title, if you want to check it out: “Old digitalisation of the Emblem of the Republic of Afghanistan and new digitalisation compared” and it is by “BasirLegend”. Sorry for any inconvenience, it would not allow me to send the YouTube link and I don’t know where else to upload it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AfghanParatrooper19891 (talk • contribs) 13:22, 24. Very good, no fantasy deviations welcome on the flag of a country, the way User:Fry1989 wishes things worked RevolutionaryPatriot (talk) 15:22, 24 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
You know, I am really getting very tired of this infantile behaviour. It's not a matter of what I want, it's a matter of one version being fundamentally superior in it's construction to another. Even when I try to be diplomatic about that and suggesting this option of the graphic lab, you insist on attacking me. I didn't see YOU coming up with this idea. The behaviour that you have shown in this dispute is deeply regrettable. GROW UP! Fry1989 eh? 19:53, 25 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
“Fundamentally superior” Did you watch the video? Although I do agree that we can resolve this without expressing anger, but it’s very obvious this rendition is not superior. However, the text is way better than the original and more accurate due to the two dots in “ت” (at the end of Jamhuriyat aka Republic) at the end of the text. With the evidence presented now, as well as in the video I’ve created, we can simply end this dispute here and work towards creating a file that incorporates both works from each file. AfghanParatrooper19891 (talk) 07:19, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
RevolutionaryPatriot, please stop starting trouble by tagging Fry1989 and mocking him. We can resolve this without the need for any of that. AfghanParatrooper19891 (talk) 09:39, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

SVG and split religious habits[edit]

Article(s): a lot of them!

Request
Hello. On the it.wiki's Graphics Lab we're working on converting to SVG and splitting religios habit/vestments sketches on Commons, so they can be used more easily and without scaling problems. Since it's a really long process, we would like to ask for your help taking some of that work.

More precisely, the steps are the following:

  1. Creating an SVG version of the sketches and uploading it
  2. Uploading the individual sketches on Commons

If it's possible, I would ask for coherence to make them on the style of those sketches: 1, 2, 3, since it's the one used by most of the sketches already present

Thanks a lot --Sciking (talk) 15:19, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
