File:One million years.jpg[edit]
While working on the enwiki article, I noticed this image wasn't being used as a fair-use image. This is a photograph of a specific artwork; while the original photograph itself is released under an acceptable CC license, it is a derivative work of a piece of art that is itself copyrighted and has *not* been released under a CC license, and so it's not acceptable to be uploaded to Commons. - Keep, these books only contain simple covers which are ineligible for copyright ©️. The content of the books as shown in this photograph falls under de minimis as it's too small to be readable. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 13:33, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
- Addendum, as the content of the book as shown only includes a simple list of years this isn't eligible for copyright ©️ under United States law as simple lists of information aren't regarded as "creative works" regardless of the artistic merit behind it. - Keep A sequential list of numbers is not copyrightable. To say that it is would be to contradict Feist directly. D. Benjamin Miller (talk) 01:47, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
- Keep While I think there is a good argument for the paintings being creative enough to be original, I agree that the content presented in this image is not creative enough to be copyrightable, especially per D. Benjamin Miller regarding the Feist decision. FPTI (talk) 04:14, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
- Delete per Writ Keeper and own arguments given in Commons:Deletion requests/File:Oct 31, 1973 (Today Series, Tuesday) On Kawara.png. -- Mdd (talk) 01:53, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
- Keep There is nothing copyrightable in the photographed objects (just a list of dates and book covers); it's not a derivative work. Carl Lindberg (talk) 14:31, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
