As a rough guideline, administrators usually require editors to have made more than 500 useful non-botlike edits, and to have been active in the last thirty days. Patrollers and License reviewers don't have to request this flag. Find possible candidates.
I have been cleaning up Dutch audio files. I am only adjusting volumes removing noise and the like. Replacing these files seems like the proper solution. Thank you. Gam3 (talk) 10:24, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Registered since 2012. I've uploaded a few images in the past, but these days I just want to fix up some exposure and color balance on non-historical images using GIMP and G'MIC. For that I believe overwrite rights are justified. Thank you. Artoria2e5contribs05:10, 3 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@GPSLeo: There were no pixels added artificially and the change should fall into the scope of "minor and uncontroversial color correction, noise reduction, perspective correction, etc." -- there's a human expectation of how a tomato-based sauce should look like under natural lighting and the camera is not producing it. I suppose I can rope Oknazevad in and ask for forgiveness? Artoria2e5contribs03:19, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
You do not know if the warm white balance was on purpose and editing existing JPG files always results in some more noise and loss due to compression. If the user is still active you should ask if you can overwrite the file or just upload as a new file. GPSLeo (talk) 12:59, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'd rather the file not be altered. I see no issues with the color of the sauce. It is correct for the actual way the sauce looks, suitably red. Not orange, as in the improper correction, which also makes the cheese too yellow. Yes, I should have been asked, because there is no issue with the original colors. I should know, I ate that very chicken parm immediately after the image was taken. oknazevad (talk) 02:04, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hello, I'am registered since 2011. A lot of editions and uploading photos about history and art, but these days I just want to fix up some exposure, contrast and color balance of old Wikipedia images for example from WW2 using my graphic software and I want to replace a lot of miniature photos to large ones in higher quality. For that I believe overwrite rights are justified. Thank you. Tom5551 (talk) 08:07, 3 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi, I ask permission to continue overwriting public domain art images with others of better quality, or complete and or at higher resolution. Thank you some much. --PancoPinco (talk) 13:04, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Welcome to Wikimedia Commons. You're far too new to have rights to upload MP3 files. Sound recordings would either need to be public domain or freely licensed, and sound recordings have separate copyrights for the composition, the performance and the recording. So municipal anthems would need to be free in the composition, free in the performance, and free in the recording. Abzeronow (talk) 18:28, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I want to be able to be able to fix inaccuracies and incorrect colours in flags, especially in city flags where I mainly do my work. I would also like it so that I could reduce the code for some images with excessive amounts of code and clipping masks. Thank you. Strenatos (talk) 03:30, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I have slight concerns about your understanding of copyright as there were two speedy deletions of flags you uploaded this month, as well as a DR with a flag that is still currently under copyright. Abzeronow (talk) 16:25, 24 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hello. I'd like to try to get the autopatrol rights, so I can do minor edits to images like removing frames from pictures like File:Noma (cancrum oris) case (PLoS).jpg. Also I'd like to upload some free music MP3s, such as the songs from [LiQWYD https://www.liqwydmusic.com] which is released under CC-BY 3.0 license. I know that I haven't reached the 500 edits threshold yet, but considering I've been (occasionally) uploading for some time now and never got any contribution reverted/deleted, I thought that I'll give it a shot. Thank you. --ShadyMedic (talk) 17:17, 28 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi there. I gotta be honest that I'm a bit confused now. I uploaded Night Out, assuming the licence in the description of this YouTube video is correct. But what's written on [1] seems more like a BY-NC licence. I don't know that much about licences, what is the the correct continuation from here? ShadyMedic (talk) 19:44, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
You are correct that the YouTube link claims a CC license, but I cannot find an example of a Creative Commons license at the website either currently or using the Wayback Machine. In order for us to accept a CC license, the license has to be explicitly stated from the copyright holder, and the YouTube video is not from the copyright holder. Good day,I request autopatrol's permission to upload MP3 files to Wikimedia. Moreover,I am registered to wikipedia since 2020 and have done a lot of edits to my school wikipedia side. My plan is to upload my school song and other relevant content for use on Wikimedia and Wikipedia. The sound recordings are public domain and freely licensed.I am committed to ensuring the content I provide aligns with Wikimedia's licensing and copyright policies.Thank you. M9911 (talk) 02:52, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It only looks like you just joined this year (unless you are talking about another account or IP edits?) Edit count is too low for this right right now. Abzeronow (talk) 16:58, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes.I've been using wikipedia since 2020.I forgot my username and also my password. Then i make a new account for my school editing purposes which is this account. In that case, if i wasn't be able to upload my school song, what should i do. I am looking forward to hear from you soon.
There would be other audio formats you could upload your school song in if the sound recording is freely licensed or public domain in composition, performance and recording. Unfortunately we cannot help you if you don't remember what your other account was. Abzeronow (talk) 16:42, 1 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Upload your song in Ogg Vorbis format (.ogg). You can use any online converter if you don't have one on your computer or whatever device you're using. You can upload music files in Ogg format. Bedivere (talk) 03:18, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi, occasionally I want to make minor corrections to files uploaded by others. Mostly these would be fine adjustments to crops of photos I've taken. Thank you. Hameltion (talk | contribs) 17:10, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I participate for years on WP.fr in the Graphics Lab/Illustration workshop team. Sometimes I need to update protected maps or diagrams as part of a request. Current request is the update of [File:European Neighbourhood Policy 2015-03-12.svg] Thank you in advance. PBrieux (talk) 23:26, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I have been participating for years, in a serious and clean manner. I request the right to edit SVG files that are no longer accurate. I use Linux and edit SVG files by hand, making sure they remain clean and compliant. I also have studied copyright law, including international copyright, and could be of help should any problem arise regarding this topic. Thank you. Biganon (talk) 15:53, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Not done this was your first edit here and you've only made 140 global edits, most in the French Wikipedia, since registering nearly 15 years ago. You also don't need autopatrol to upload SVG files. Bedivere (talk) 15:59, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I would like to re-license my photographs of technical devices from CC-by-SA to more lenient CC-by. (The “SA” part does not really change anything (what derivative works can be made of such photos?) and is impossible to enforce in practice.) I was using AWB for a while at Wikia (now Fandom) in 2013. Throughout the years, I've been using PyWikiBot (called PyWikipedia back when I started) and my own custom scripts. Category:US National Archives series: "Airscapes" of American and Foreign Areas contains ~10,000 images which have "1917 – 1964" as date=* in their information template - only the general range the images were made in. I would like to change this to the exact date of the image. The exact dates are almost always part of the scanned image. Also, many images are tagged with author=unknown, but the name of the author is stated on the scan. AWB would be perfect for this task. Thank you. As a rough guideline, administrators usually require editors to have made at least 1,000 useful, non-botlike edits or a large amount of justified renaming requests at Commons before they will consider granting the filemover right.
I would like to apply for the Filemover right to rename file errors in tracks. I have just over 700 contributions, however that is due to greatly increase in the near future because I am attempting to recolor tropical cyclone tracks. I have made around ten file move requests as of the time of this request. Thank you. 2003 LN6 (talk) 17:57, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
New tracks need new files, under the name "path". I am attempting to synchronize the storm names in each basin, specifically with the depression numbers. For example, a modern North Indian storm would be named under "File:BOB01 2014 track.png", while an earlier North Indian storm would be named "File:01-B 1964 track.png". However, the older filenames do not correspond with the Wikipedia designations due to it being by sub-basin instead of by the entire basin. The original color change discussions can be found here. In addition, there are major inconsistencies within the storm names themselves; for example: File:1-L 1988 track.png and File:03-L 1974 track.png. The current format uses the second example, note the leading 0. 2003LN617:00, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I would like to apply for the filemover right. In the last few months I have uploaded more than 500 municipal coats of arms from Germany, which I have redesigned in .svg. I was not aware that a more systematic naming would have been useful. So instead of the name I chose, e.g. "Wappen Osterby3.svg", the coats of arms should have the more appropriate name "DEU Osterby COA.svg". (Criterion 4:To harmonize the names of a set of images). I would therefore undertake the work of gradually renaming them over the next few weeks or months. Thank you very much.--Fornax (talk) 20:16, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I do not see any requests for file renaming in your last 500 or 1000 edits. Have you read through our renaming guidelines about which files are to be renamed and which files are not to be renamed? Thanks. Jianhui67T★C06:04, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, Doc Taxon changed the name of File:Wappen Osterby3.svg on 2/27/2024 to the new name DEU Osterby COA.svg with the reason: "Criterion 4". I was therefore convinced that this made sense in order to harmonize the names. I also thought that changing the names of more than 500 files would be much quicker if I did it myself. However, if harmonization is not necessary at all - as you suggest - the matter is of course settled.--Fornax (talk) 08:17, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'm part of WhoseKnowledge? team, and I would like to apply for Translation Administration permits. We work on multilingual campaigns and activities and it would be very useful to have permission for this tool. Thank you. Constanza Verón (WK?) (talk) 16:37, 28 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oppose per Krd. Request at wrong place + no established knowledge of how translation adminship works. I would at the least want to see one example of page preparation subject to our i18n guidelines, and for that too, this is not the place. ─ Aafī(talk)23:02, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
