False description

Hi

Should file be deleted + user blocked ? --Panam2014 (talk) 13:41, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi @Panam2014: The DR should be allowed to run its own course. If the user is causing disruptions, they should be warned, and then reported at an appropriate noticeboard. Block requests should be made at COM:AN/B, and if there is apparent vandalism, COM:AN/V. There is some discussion at User talk:Littlexiaogui and I believe the user should be warmly taught basics of the copyright. Best regards, ─ Aafī (talk) 16:41, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Done. The file in question is speedily deleted and DR is closed. Taivo (talk) 09:06, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

rename

compare Anna (mother) and Katarzyna (wife) with File:Anna z Jabłonowskich Leszczyńska.jpg

Please, rename File:Anna z Jabłonowskich Leszczyńska.jpg to File:Katarzyna z Opalińskich Leszczyńska.jpg; there is a request from 14:32 26 February.

Note. File:Anna Jabłonowska.jpg were immediately renamed to File:Katarzyna Leszczyńska z Opalińskich.jpg (see history, request at 15:20 26 February; renamed at 16:27 26 February)

Now there is an obvious contradiction with

Hoax collaboration including cross-project activity

Images from the above three editors, using 3 different cameras but all taken mid-February 2024, are being used to promote on en-wiki, fr-wiki, wq, wikidata, and here a Wordpress website called AlHakawi News, its owner/publisher, and an Egyptian business Al-Agha Group he also heads. This man whose name is variously given as Abdel Nasser, Abdel Naser, "Abdel Nasser Abdel Fattah Mohamed" (at AlHakawi webpage), and "Mohamed AlAgha" is claimed to have won "the Academy Award" in 2023. Accordingly, photos of this man have been added to many Academy Award categories, including (my favorite) Category:Academy Awards after parties, where 3 of the 6 photos included are now this man.

Interestingly, MA claims to be "Lead Partnerships Manager, South Asia, Wikimedia Foundation" but this is probably because her very first edit on January 11, 2024 was creating her Wikimedia page as a copy of User:PDas_WMF except for using her own gmail address. कटासमुला is indeffed. I CSDed MA's meta-page for spam. ─ Aafī (talk) 18:55, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I zapped all of the uploads of कटासमुला. Blatant advertisements. There was a DR and I have speedily closed it. ─ Aafī (talk) 19:19, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I nuked other hoax uploads by these users. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 19:39, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

False own work?

Hi

Did you know if this file is a copied and pasted with a horizontal rotation from left to right and some minor adjusts ? Because, quality seems bad with contrast, we can't see the interior of the museum as claimed. There are no EXIF. It looks like a file from Pinterest. Request for Assistance with Image Upload Issues

Hi dears, I am currently experiencing difficulties with uploading images, as a majority of my pictures have been deleted. I have thoroughly reviewed the rules and guidelines and do not believe I have violated any of them. I need support in resolving this issue. I understand that I may have made mistakes and would appreciate assistance in ensuring that these mistakes do not lead to any future blocks. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter. About a deletion request

Hi. A few days ago I applied for speedy deletion of an image that I had uploaded years ago and as I noticed recently, possible copyright violation. It was deemed not to meet the criteria for speedy deletion and sent for deletion request process. After seven days I asked to close the discussion to proceed with the deletion. The admin said that since the image is being used externally, this is a problem and did not delete it. I read the policy and process (Deletion policy, Deletion requests) and did not find such a problem mentioned in cases of deletion requests. What is going on and what can I do from now on? IM-yb (talk) 16:53, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I can see you haven't answered what @Abzeronow asked over there, "Can you find details about the 1987 renovation? The photograph would have to show a significant portion of the 1987 renovation to be deleted. Also this was originally built in 1836, and de:Wilhelm von Weiler died in 1878"? This is a legitimate question and per se not a "denial" and you have not attempted to clarify it. ─ Aafī (talk) 17:26, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
IM-yb is talking about a discussion he's had with Turelio on their talk page. I just put in that comment since I am trying to help determine what the actual copyright status is of the building shown in the photograph. Abzeronow (talk) 17:32, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Aafī the question was asked after I first created the discussion here. Thanks anyway. IM-yb (talk) 17:44, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@IM-yb: The answer would still be relevant.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 18:59, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
So far, we have found evidence that suggests the 1987 renovation removed a staircase to a side door (and the side door may have been removed). The main entrance and ramp appear to be similar to as they were before 1987 as shown by 1940s photographs, the 1899 renovation appears to have been more significent as far as the exterior, but that might be covered by PD-old-assumed since there doesn't appear to be any information on who did the 1899 renovation. So it looks like it will come down to whether the changes from 1987 are de minimis or not. Abzeronow (talk) 19:08, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
