SteinsplitterBot (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · edit filter log · block user · block log) SteinsplitterBot has started overwriting every image requiring 270° rotation with the same file. It should be blocked from uploading until it's fixed. Examples:

--bjh21 (talk) 01:47, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

✓ Done I'm now working on manually rotating these images and hiding the unknown images. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 02:14, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
according to https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:SteinsplitterBot/Rotatebot&action=history , the bot has not been functioning since 24 feb. what's the urgency to block it??!! RZuo (talk) 07:44, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@RZuo: It overwrote File:La Bombonera - 2012 (6815492354).jpg at 22:49, 25 February 2024, less than three hours before my report. My experience is that the RotateBot schedule is erratic, so I didn't trust that the gap meant it had been shut down, especially given the lack of reply in User talk:Steinsplitter#Bot mistake. bjh21 (talk) 11:14, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
RZuo: It was still active right up until I blocked it and it was making off-by-1 errors throughout the 25th. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 22:02, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
as i've said, there is no urgency to block the bot.
according to https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:SteinsplitterBot/rconfig.js , its rotate function can be turned on/off. RZuo (talk) 08:00, 1 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

False description by User:Littlexiaogui

Littlexiaogui (talk · contributions · Move log · block log · uploads · Abuse filter log

Hi

It have been proved here that User talk:Littlexiaogui have made false description and copyvio. So he should be warned or blocked for POV pushing. --Panam2014 (talk) 16:45, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

He deleted the tag. Panam2014 (talk) 16:47, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hello,
It's really scary the type of description he puts on the photos. Since we know he's put a false description, and he's relying on a Moroccan propaganda media that has given voice to Wikipedia vandals. Waran18 (talk) 19:23, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@TheAafi, The Squirrel Conspiracy, Bedivere, and Taivo: Looking to this (doing horizontal rotation from left to right and some minor adjusts) to attempt to prevent the original file from being found and unmask the copyvio (no amount of good faith can justify this tinkering)), he should be sanctionned.
@Waran18, Kirham, and Riad Salih: for testimony. Panam2014 (talk) 12:38, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Panam2014: I agree. Yann sent them a final warning, hopefully that suffices.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 13:15, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

File:Emblem of Afghanistan (1974-1978).svg

Hello, I am requesting that “File:Emblem of Afghanistan (1974-1978).svg” is unprotected and reverted back to the original version as me and Fry1989 have come to a compromise and have agreed that both aspects of each rendition of the emblem can be combined to make a far more accurate version. I have already created the new rendition for the emblem, and the edit warring has ceased thanks to Fry1989’s idea and my persistence in reverting the emblem.

Firstly, here are proofs that the current rendition of the emblem is inaccurate (if you do need to know):

1. The YouTube “Sardar Mohammed Dawood khan 1974” by Pamir Studio Tv, mark 10:55, depicts the emblem physically near the clock tower of the Arg Presidential Palace in Afghanistan. (I apologize for the inconvenience, it won’t let me link you to YouTube) 2. This pin ==> https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195745866178 3. Please feel free to zoom in on this Afghan government almanac from 1974. http://afghandata.org:8080/xmlui/handle/azu/15354 4. Same for the 1975 almanac http://afghandata.org:8080/xmlui/handle/azu/15355 5) 5. These are coins from the period. https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/world/afghanistan-250-afghanis-km-979-1978-cuid-1044108-duid-1219976

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces59044.html

Regardless, a compromise has been made and you can see it at Fry1989’s talk page where he suggests altering the beak but keeping other elements of the emblem the same.

User talk:Fry1989

However, I proceeded to make a YouTube in which I compare both renditions of the eagle to an actual eagle in three different Afghan government books, where I politely explained the inaccuracies. However, one thing that is good about the new rendition of the emblem is that the text is more accurate, therefore I created a version which combines the eagle from the old rendition and the text from the new rendition. That way, both opposers and those who are in favour of keeping the emblem the way it is are both appeased.

Thank you in advance. AfghanParatrooper19891 (talk) 20:52, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I am not sure both of you reached a compromise. The last Fry1989 comment reads "Turtle-bienhoa's version is vastly superior and needs to be used". As a result, I can't accept this request for now unless @Fry1989: does confirm a compromise exists (I could not find it, it may be just me). Bedivere (talk) 04:11, 1 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
No problem! I feel as if we are close to solving this dispute. AfghanParatrooper19891 (talk) 19:51, 1 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
 Not done The image will remain protected Bedivere (talk) 20:39, 1 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The dispute here is which version is better constructed vs which is more accurate. It is my belief that the version by Turtle-bienhoa is undeniably superior in its construction. It was redrawn top-to-bottom. The text is legible, the elements are symmetrical, lines are straight, there's no distortions; it's simply better. The two other users are more focused on the shape is certain elements, in particular the head and beak of the eagle. I have indeed attempted to make some sort of compromise, but beyond that I don't have anything that is worth adding to the conversation than has already been said. Fry1989 eh? 16:21, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The text in Turtle’s version is far better, I do agree with you as the “ت” letter is far more legible in the word “Jamhouriyat (Republic)”. You are also correct that Turtle’s version is symmetrical. A final compromise can be made with the beak and eagle’s head being altered, however I will add again that I conducted an opacity test which you can find by searching up “ROA7378 Daoud emblem – Wikimedia file comparison” by user “meatiest”. Maybe Turtle’s emblem can be altered, using what can be seen in the video, to make it both accurate but symmetrical, along with the legible text being kept. The lines might have to be thicker, but I feel as if we are close to solving the dispute as long as no one attacks one another. Happy editing! AfghanParatrooper19891 (talk) 15:42, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
You can just upload a different version separately, there is no need to replace this one. Bedivere (talk) 15:57, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I’m not that good at making emblems, but I’ll upload a different version separately if Fry1989 and other objectors are fine with it. I will do as you ask since you’re a Commons administrator. AfghanParatrooper19891 (talk) 19:08, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

File:Sound.wav

File:Sound.wav should probably be salted as it's an overly generic title. I am not sure that the new title is the best one, that doesn't change the fact that "Sound" in and of itself isn't great. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 09:51, 1 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
